What!? [30 Apr 2007|06:42pm]
[ mood | annoyed ]

You Are 40% Evil

A bit of evil lurks in your heart, but you hide it well.
In some ways, you are the most dangerous kind of evil.

No, I refuse to believe this! I should have a much higher score than this!

Question [21 Apr 2007|01:25pm]
Does anyone know what day we go back to school? I'm not sure whether we have a staff development day this term.

Hell yeah! [03 Apr 2007|05:08pm]

It's official, Serenity is the best sci-fi movie ever.
On a non-Serenity note, its great to see Blade Runner so high on the list. I love that movie.

Yarrr! [24 Mar 2007|02:26pm]
Pirates of the Carribean 3 trailer!
I don't think anyone can honestly say that doesn't look like a good movie.

Eep, I'm getting older! [12 Mar 2007|08:53pm]
[ mood | contemplative ]

I was walking to maths today, and was hit by a bolt of perspective. I only have a year and a day until I'm 18. I find it somewhat worrying, because I haven't done nearly as much stuff as I would have liked to by now. Not that my life is dull, but I imagined myself as having done a lot more at this age. At least I'm taller than my Dad... and have an awesome girlfriend... on second thought, scratch the worrying. I am almost perfectly content.

Mr Sulu = Win [25 Feb 2007|07:39pm]
[ mood | content ]

Recently, in a radio interview, American NBL player Tim Hardaway openly admitted to being homophobic and made a variety of anti-gay comments. Here is George Takei, the actor who played Mr Sulu in Start Trek, giving a response. Takei has been openly gay for a LONG time.
Sorry Josh, but George Takei is officially the coolest gay man ever!

Egypt, right there in the convenience of your very own National Art Gallery. [08 Jan 2007|09:57pm]
[ mood | blank ]

I went to Canberra to see the exhibit of Ancient Egyptian art from the Louvre today, and I have to say that is is very much worth it. There's some really beautiful pieces in the collection, many of which I wish I could have taken home. There were no souvenirs of these unfortunately. The gift shop really sucked.
Erin came along, and slept over the night before so we could leave early. I tickled her mercilessly! Since my Dad and sister are at Jamboree, my Mum drove us there. We had lunch with some old workmates of Dads at the Old Parliament House Cafe, which was really good, then went to the gallery. If you haven't seen the exhibition, I fully recommend it. Although one piece seemed to indicate to me that the Egyptians were into something very similar to slash. And now Erin wants me to learn sculpture, so I can make her nice presents. Women, can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em. No offence.

The Formal Onwards, A Recount [11 Dec 2006|01:12pm]
[ mood | aggravated ]

I'm back from Mogo, and now I've had enough sleep to type coherently, comes my commentary on the formal, and the Mogo camp.

First, the formal. Here are some ratings for different parts of the night.
Photos: 9/10 (Partly because they messed up the printing so I got two sets for the price of one)
Food: 6/10 (I've had better at Scout camps, though it was better than the 3 Fat Ladies cooking)
Slide-show: 3/10 (Some good photos, but none of Nadav, Tristan or myself. PHOTOS OF THE YEAR MY ARSE!!)
Music: 2/10 (Because it improved towards the end. VARIETY IS IMPORTANT, PEOPLE!!)
Highlights: Kristan throwing her drink at Mikey.
Playing Truth or Truth (Not enough room for Dare)
All in all, not a very good evening. Only highlight #1 made it worth the $25 it cost.

Mogo on the other hand, was well worth the $35 it cost. Only 16 of the original 50 Venturers who said they would come did, so it was much quieter than it should have been. First we built traditional local style aboriginal shelters, then an Aboriginal guy talked about the tools they used, and a bit about the culture. Then came a heap of free time, where we went into town for about an hour, had ice-cream for lunch, and blew some cash at the lolly shop. Then we went back to camp and bludged for about 2 hours, before a tour of the Old Mining Town, and panning for gold. I got a decent amount, though some people did better than others. After dinner, we went into Batemans Bay to see Casino Royal, because without enough people, they had to cancel the tree piece band. Opinion was polarised, from hating it to loving it. I was amongst the latter. Then we sat around till we could be bothered to go the bed.
Second day, we went to the zoo. The lions were boring, the monkeys ruled, and the bears did a cool trick. The only bad part was the trip home. CAUTION: ANGRY RANT AHEAD! Normally, Gavin is a sensible driver, getting where he's going ASAP. On the way home, however, we were in a convoy, with other people to impress. This led to much more dangerous driving, and way to much mucking about. We spent a WHOLE F***ING HOUR bumming about in Huskison! I could have gotten home LESS THAT 5 HOURS AFTER WE LEFT!! Then we took a half hour detour to drive with the car dropping off his new girlfriend, who, given his previous record, will be lucky to last a month! The others were as pissed off with him as I was! </rant>
We met some interesting people though. One of the Queanbeyan mob was a chick who plays D&D! Shame she lives out in Queanbeyan. Then there was Gavin's new girlfriend. She looks like Tim Moore if you shrunk him a bit and gave him boobs. I don't want to know what those two were doing in the shower (yes, we would have left before 3 if he hadn't been doing who-knows-what) I am more than slightly annoyed at Gav.

Over and out.
